Fabri-Kal Corp., the Kalamazoo, Mich.-based thermoforming company, has introduced a new line of mushroom packaging, known as tills, made from high density polyethylene in a lightweight, compact design.
The mushroom tills are made from a blend of HDPE and calcium carbonate, produced with 25 percent less plastic than Fabri-Kal’s previous tills. Company officials also said the tills are designed to improve efficiency at the mushroom plants, in filling, wrapping and packaging, reducing labor and cleanup since there is no need for additional prep containers.
The tills are made with HDPE, the same as milk jugs, so they can be recycled in communities that accept those containers. | |
