NEW DELHI — Einbeck, Germany-based Kayser Automotive Systems GmbH opened its first design and sales office in India in December, and recently received clearance to open production in the country soon.

Kayser makes a range of plastics components for functional systems such as valves, lines, connectors and ducts.

Its office in Pune is a good location to launch its auto business there, said Guenter Maassen, vice president for business development Asia at the Auto Expo in New Delhi.

“We are evaluating the customer requirements, and if demand is in a big volume, that would justify production in India. Only then we will go for investment in plant,” he said.

The company began making parts for the auto industry in 1960 and now supplies complete modules globally to both automakers and suppliers.

Despite the ongoing slowdown in the Indian auto sector, Kayser believes that the market is full of potential, especially with increased government requirements for emissions controls.

Kayser has two plants in China. One, in Suzhou, opened five years ago while its second facility, in Chungchun opened in December to supply Volkswagen AG.
