Thermoplastic injection molder Johnson Precision has acquired three new Arburg injection molding machines, the Hudson, N.H.-based medical component manufacturer announced recently.

Two 55-ton models and a 28-ton model will replace existing machinery in the company’s 5,000-square-foot clean room, with the 28-ton machine adding micromolding capability, according to a company news release.

The acquisition is part of Johnson Precision’s effort to update and refine its operations.

“We’re making a substantial move towards using product families in our operations and with the acquisition of our new Arburg injection molding machines, Johnson Precision has taken a significant step towards streamlining our processes even further,” manufacturing manager Jason Stein said in a statement.

The company reported growth of 17 percent in 2013. The new equipment reduces the company’s setup times and allows for stricter process control, according to the statement.

Johnson Precision, founded in 1981, is a global supplier of plastic injection molded parts for the medical, life sciences, electronics and analytical lab equipment markets. The company has been owned by CEPS Inc. of West Lebanon, N.H. since 2010.
